Default So how to play this game?

So I made an Iksar Necromancer and got to level 4. I think I need to use the Curscale Armor Quest to level up from here. I also have 4 backpacks and I try to find those Iksar Targ Shield Skeletons so I can get platinum pieces.

My question is do you JUST wander around aimlessly and consider enemies and if it is blue you just kill them? Is that the number #1 tactic to play this game? Because I tried to kill some white texts (consider) and I always died by them... So now I only kill the blue consider enemies.

Where do the Targ Shield decaying skeletons even spawn in the Field of Bone? Am I playing this game right? Just wandering around aimlessly and killing blue consider enemies?

I literally don't know what to do right now. Killing blues in Field of Bone doesn't get you any exp but I can get higher levels by farming the Curscale Armor Quest. Maybe at level 5 or 6 I can kill stronger enemies? Is that how it goes in this game? Just farming quests and only killing blues? Do I need to read an Iksar Necromancer Guide to improve my game?

Killing blues will give you exp. Generally speaking whites are usually too hard to kill solo, so it's best to stick to blues. The curscale armor isn't wearable by necros.

You probably don't have the spells or the mana pool to do much at level 4. New spells at level 8 should provide a nice boost of power. You've put a point into Meditate, right?

I would say focus on skeletons as you have been, aim for the ones with weapons/shields as priority. Save all the bone chips you get and vendor the weapons/shields for money for your spells. Join a guild of players if you can, they will help you along the way. If on Blue hit me up in game!

A few tips for a new Iksar Necro player at the early levels:

1) Make sure you always have your highest level skeleton pet summoned during combat and tell it to attack the enemy. In this case it will be the level 4 spell Leering Corpse. You need 1 Bone chip to summon it.
2) Melee attack enemies along with your pet. You're a caster but at low levels your melee is a significant source of damage, and it's a good way to build your defense skill.
3) Start combat by casting a DoT, then cast lifetaps in between your melee attacks. In your case you should cast level 4 Poison Bolt, then Lifespike.
4) Skeletons always show what weapon/shield they are carrying. Prioritize those ones. Also look for skeletons carrying a brown staff. This will either be a Worn Great Staff 2HB, or a Cracked Staff 1HB. The Cracked Staff sells for 1pp and also has a good ratio for you to use as your personal weapon for awhile.
5) Make sure you always have food and water in your inventory or else you won't be able to regenerate health/mana. As an Iksar you have the ability to forage, so if you press that button whenever it's up you should rarely have to buy food for yourself.
6) If your pet is about to die and you still have health, run into range of the mob you're fighting and it will attack you instead.
7) Generally the best and safest XP you will find, especially as a new and untwinked (no good gear) player, is to kill mobs that just barely con blue to you. In other words, you want to look for monsters that are lower level and weaker than you but that still award XP when killed.
8) If you find yourself in trouble in combat and need to flee, learn how to strafe run to stay ahead of mobs chasing you. This basically means holding two directional keys at once to run diagonally (i.e. if using WASD you hold W+D for example) while also holding down your mouselook/right click. May take a little practice to get the hang of, but an extremely useful trick that will save your life many times.

It's definitely a slow game. The experience of Norrath evolves gradually as you level. I think some of the breakpoints for necro are: Feign Death and Harmshield at level 16; Shadow Compact at level 20 (heals others with your HP for very little mana); Call of Bones at 34 (will be hard to get - prob just buy it); DMF at 44; and I think the 49 pet is pretty tanky.

That reminds me, I recommend grouping. You'll learn a lot from other players. Most will be helpful. Some may be rude or bossy, but you can learn game info from those as well.

Which server? Blue or Green?

You chose a very solid solo class so you should have little trouble progressing. Hit me up in game if you're on Blue

I would join a newbie friendly guilds like Friendly Druids, send tells to members and they'll ask an officer invite you. That way you can ask questions in game and people in those guilds generally love to help out.
