Default Is the Dragoon Dirk classic?

I can't speak for the other zones, but I probably spent several hundred hours camping the guards in Nektulos Forest as a kid because it was one of the only ways I knew how to make platinum as a Monk during classic. They were trivial to kill, and I could vendor their BRONZE swords in EC. I legitimately never saw a Dragoon Dirk drop, not even once. In fact I think it was well established at the time that there wasn't even a chance for these guards to drop them?

Also did Dragoon Dirks really be dropping off of Hill Giants? I feel like someone may have been trolling and gave a Hill Giant a Dragoon Dirk or something?

And yes I know farming Dark Elf guards for $ is dumb as hell, but I was a kid and thought it was neat that I could kill guards since I grew up idolizing high level players who would kill guards and let me loot them. I think I decided Runnyeye was actually better since I could use the banker there with /sneak.

Also I'm pretty sure that these guards were much lower level than 35.... that's also why I solo'd them so easily. The guards in Steamfont were actually level 35 and were in a way different league. For some reason I'm actually thinking the bridge guards in Nektulos Forest were level 20'ish?
