I'm assuming because the devs are now making money off of EQ Legends. Which I don't even hate on necessarily. I've always said I would pay a subscription to play P99 since I get more enjoyment out of it than I do WoW half of the time. (WoW requires friends to have fun IMHO. EQ... you can literally just go around solo and have a great time).

But yeah, EQ Legends doesn't appeal to me personally. Making Classic EQ less hardcore... kind of kills the appeal. I would be more excited if they released a version of EQ where the raid bosses were hella buffed to replicate how hard they were in 1999. Would also make farmable items like SSoY, FBSS, SMR, GEBS etc super rare to help replicate how hard these items were to actually obtain.
(Hopefully the main dev person reads this because I think a lot of us want EQ if it was re-balanced to be hard again)

On my server no one even had a Pearl Kedge Totem and Reed Belts were the most expensive item on the entire server.

also idk how you would do this, but somehow incentivizing people to level in places they normally wouldnt. think ive made threads before about how classic eq for me was lake of ill omen. something ive never seen on p99 or tlp's. essential ghost zones.

remember being a kid and people grouping in perma frost, west karana etc. something ive never seen on p99 or tlp.

i think mischief was kind of a step in the right direction... even found groups in kerra isle because suddenly an otherwise dead zone had the potential for good loot...

think you could do something like this, or some type of exp modifiers..... hard not to wow-ify it obviously... like oh, kill 25 mammoths in permafrost and gain a ton of exp... yeah you getting real wow like if you aint careful.
