I don't recall exiting the hole and going to the observatory. Is that how it is supposed to work?

I dont think it is either. I went to the hole on live and this never happened to me.

Noticed this also when zoning out using the same water tunnel you use to get in. Not a big deal for me as im not kos and can pick the lock to get out of paineel, but i can see it being a huge hassle for someone kos or without the faction to get a key.

Is anyone aware of any zoneout points in the hole except for the underwater entrance?

Since October patch, jumping off the Paineel cliff now double-zones you to the Hole, then to Paineel. You appear inside the Hole rock entrance.
