Default caster melee damage

is it possible for casters to do more than weapon damage x2 in combat?

what sort of caster melee dmg? if arcane/necro, its not worth it past lvl 12, mobs hit sooo much harder, but if you're a shmn/cleric, id say just make sure you have a good weapon in slot, and a fbss,

ive yet to see a cleric with a fbss yet, on a mage i saw one once, man did i lol for a few mins loudly

More than likely not because the weapon skillcaps for casters are set so low. They don't get any melee damage bonuses and I doubt STR would have an affect on caster max damage.

I do hit occasionally for more than 120 with a 60 damage weapon and around 95 unbuffed str at 60.

even with a good proc weapon, most of the (int) caster melee damage is insignificant. Your better of medding. (this is from a min/max perspective though, I still like to mix it up so to speak -even if I know I am not being efficient.)

Just takes high strength. A level 30ish ogre shaman can do 3x weapon damage without much trouble, for instance.

Late Kunark into late Velious Shamans are pretty nasty tanks with their slows and regen for soloing purposes.
