![]() Hail and well met,
I have an unusual problem that defies logic. During the last server shutdown, I was in EC with my necro Rezidule. I caught the shut down and camp message too late to camp out normally. As expected, my screen froze with the shut down. The next day, I logged on to Rezidule to the same image last seen before the shutdown. The game was frozen and I had no access to the GUI, although the mouse appeared to move correctly, just no clicking. I rebooted my pc and tried again with the same result, except I had access to the GUI for about 20 seconds (i.e. normal play). But the game froze up again. Skipping the chronology of events, here are some facts and things that have been tried in attempt to unfreeze the toon.... Amelinda moved Rezidule to Nektulos, where I was able to function normally. I ran Rezidule to Neriak and banked normally, interacted with npcs normally, etc. Running back and zoning into EC, however, reproduced the freeze. I've logged in with another toon, and ran to EC where I functioned normally. I could see the ooc's/auctions, my GUI was accessable (i.e. I could click on things), I could send and receive tells (i.e. I could access the chat stuff). No evidence that my EC zone file might be corrupt. I've renamed a configuration file in my EQ folder with reference to Rezidule, then relogged into the game. While the server had reproduced the configuration file, the freeze continues. My next course of action is to reinstall the game, however I'd like some feedback first. That's kind of an extreme, albeit not too much trouble to do. I've posted this similarly in the petition section, but I haven't had a reply so posting a little more public. Thoughts?

![]() Sounds a bit like what happens when you don't update the Nek file to P99's version during install. Maybe it somehow updated to live? Try going back to the Getting Started post and re-doing the bit where you copy/delete the zone files and paste in the new ones.

![]() This is why when I do an install of the game, I automatically take the file and throw it into a zip file and back it up. You never know when you are going to need to overwrite files and it is a heck of a lot faster than reinstalling the game fresh.
I would totally do what Skipachu suggested to do, download the files from Getting Started and go from there. If all else fails, reinstall.

![]() Thanks for the suggestions. Backups are one of those things most overlook, unless you've been in the industry and experienced it. Been there, but I wasn't expecting this. The interesting thing is, that it only occurs with one of my characters, and that character seems to function as expected outside of EC. So far, two other characters have been able to run through EC with no problems. That's the puzzle. Nevertheless, I uninstalled EQ and am currently doing a reinstall. Hope that fixes the issue. I'll be back to update this post. Thanks again guys.

![]() Well, I've done a complete uninstall and reinstall from scratch. The same issue persists. To recap....
I failed to camp during last weeks server shutdown. My necro was in EC at the time. The next day I logged in to the same image last seen the night before, and the game was frozen. I had no access to the GUI. At least 3 other toons have run through EC fine and have actually leveled in the game. My necro remains frozen. I asked Amelinda to move him to another zone, Nek in this case. I was able to run the necro to Neriak and bank, however, upon running him back to EC, the game froze up again. Tonight I asked to be moved to OT, where the freeze reoccurred (with the necro). I'm really at wits end and have no idea what could be causing this. My other toons are fine in any zone so far. It's just the necro that has the problem. Any other thoughts? Is my necro's config file corrupt? And if so, is there a remedy? I'd hate to lose 42 levels an gear to this. Need more help. TIA.
