Default Dumpster diving (merchant mining)

Have been doing this since i had more than a few plat to my name here on p1999 was surprised at how many folks dont know about this so i thought i would share.

p1999 is running old school interface merchants have more spaces that have stuff than what you see when they are full. It does require a start up amount of plate to do merchant mining /dumpster diving , but can be extremely rewarding.

rough guidelines for dumpster diving

1) buy all the low cost items that are currently in merchant windows if you see -- in column of number of items the merchant has unlimited amounts of these don't waste money buying those. exit merchant and open interface with merchant again you will see bunch of new items at bottom of list rinse repeat till you find what your looking for.

2) to check if merchant has some of the item you are looking for empty a few slots of the merchant window and then click and sell 1 of the item you are looking for. IF the item does not appear in the currently empty window then HE HAS AT LEAST 1 MORE OF THAT ITEM. If the single item you sell pops into one of the empty windows then he has non but one you just sold him.

3) learn to know when a merchant has been dumpster dived when you open interface. good example if their is only expensive items in most of the merchant windows it probably been dumpster diver recently.

Dumpster diving hot spots :

qeynos gate merchant and 2 near the gate you can literally dumpster dive 1400 plus bone chips here. it can get a bit expensive but if you are looking to power level you next toon to level 9 or 10 fast in kaladim bone chips quest it might be worth it.

Commons inns: tons upon tons of low , med , high quality skins. most folks who play on this server will keep all these an try to sell them but twinks impatient folks will just sell them to merchant.

Greaterfay dark lift merchants Pads / CB belts bone chips wolf skins of all qualities. can get a bit expensive if server has not been reset in a while.

TAILORS SECRET REVEALED

permafrost 2 merchant right near zone line to halas: These guys have consistently had over 100 skins of various quality mostly bear and wolf. my record is 29 high quality bear skin of these merchants.

Their quite few merchant in many cities which can be quite profitable to dumpster dive fun part of this at least to me was learning which ones to go after.

PS
Corrected spelling so the Spelling ogers can go back to sleep

This is actually a superb way of getting back your item that you just accidentally sold to a merchant (and I didn't know you could do this on P99 until just literally 2 days ago). Very cool writeup.

A couple weeks ago a guy I know accidentally sold a CoTH spell to a merchant and I was able to recover it.

forgot to mention

When you Dumpster dive if someone else has same merchant you are diving opened and you close your interface and come back to them no new items will show up. only when other person interacting with the closes the interface and you close yours and reopen will new items show up.

I kept getting frustrated with this are the orc lift merchant when i was diving for CB belts and pads newby players would come to sell and i would be frustrated with no item showing up . I kept thinking something was wrong with merchant.
