Default Introduction, and a couple quick questions.

I just wanted to pop in and introduce myself. I just found this server a few days ago, and now that i have been playing a few nights, the nostalgic memories of this great game have kicked in overdrive. I want to thank all of the hard work of the devs and the community as well for making what seems like a very good re-experience of this game from the beginning.

I also want to thank Zoon (Iksar monk) for helping me with some gear, as he ran up to me and just handed me some banded and a wraith bone hammer in EC while i was newbing it up on my bard (character name-Tristel), and forgetting about the doom Chord of Dissonance. That really helped a lot! I also received numerous buffs while wandering around.

The one question i have, is this. Is there anything i can do about the millisecond of freezing i encounter every so often? the whole game will pause for a split second, but continue on fine afterwards. I am not sure the cause of it, but it can be somewhat of a nuisance. is there something in my settings i can change o is this something i will just have to get used to? I appreciate any help!

Bard of the 5th Song, so far....

Possibly this...
Try step 4 from the getting started guide.

Step 4 - Optional WinEQ
Many users experience problems with proper CPU/Core Utilization or crashing which can be fixed by using WinEQ2. You can download this program from Lavishsoft.
And the appropriate forum for that question is technical discussion.

Welcome to the server and good luck!

I've also heard of pausing issues related to people zoning into of a zone causing your client lag as it reads the new character information and processes it. The only thing I can think of for that is putting EQ onto an SSD or ramdisk.

I had some trouble with mini-freezes, particularly when mouse driving (little hitch and suddenly you're facing 30-180 degrees from what you were). For Bards trying to swarm kite, this is a deal-breaker.

I'd look at your HDD. EQ seems to depend heavily on fast read times to run smoothly. Either run from a SSD or try loading your EQ folder into RAM if you have an abundance (8G or so).

Maybe not the same thing you're experiencing...

edit: Falkun sniped me while I was chatting with my neighbor!

it seems to be that the stutter you have, is when other people zone in..

i and others get that alot, and there's supposedly nothing you can do about it.

Yes I think the stutter from other people zoning in was caused by their model having to be loaded from disk - and SOE did eventually fix that, or made it less obvious.
