You wear it until your cleric is constantly casting CH instead of your priest using number heals. As a main chest piece it's very good even into the 50s, even if it's not perfect for a tank.

People use it to level to 60. You will want a side piece of armor for when you are grouping and regen is not as important. If you like to solo then keep it. At 60 you may keep it for when you feign death and need faster Heath regen. Especially if you are going to be flopping past dangerous mobs and need recovery between flops.

What to get is a harder question, I don't know your budget. But since you can afford fungi, I'd say you may have a few options, crustacean armor or blood ember bp may be nice options.

When you are in your late 50's you can get a thug bp from plate house.

If thug bp is out of the question for you then once you are able to group in the hole go for

Use it until you get a Chestplate of Vindication.

There isn't a better bp for group content.

Period.

I think they should remove the fungi altogether, it's just making an already unfair (for new players) game, even more unfair.

I leveled a necro as my first P99 character so I could farm money to twink my next character. I don't feel bad about it and I disagree with you. I understand I may have an advantage but I do share my wealth. Whether it's platinum, gear or knowledge. Anyone can easily have the advantages that I have with due time.
