Ranger archery vs melee at end game?
Hey all. I haven’t asked any of the end game rangers in game to find this out, but I was curious how good ranger dps with high end archery vs melee compares. Obviously true shot discipline and high end bows/ arrows will factor into this. So I wanted to ask the community for their thoughts.
I am guessing melee is better since I never see any rangers try to bow down a dragon

Archery hits a hard cap because monsters start summoning you at level 52, effectively ruining your attempt to keep distance and pew pew them

I know that Auld Lang Syne relies heavily on their rangers for sustained bow damage on isle 5 raid bosses.
Bow DPS is as good as you can get it. It's the same as melee, you understand? Look at your ratios and your haste and that will give you an answer whether you'll do better DPS at range vs melee.

Trueshot + Standing Still + Good bow (30+ dmg) + Crafted Arrows (5+ dmg) + Fleeting Quiver + VoG + 40%+ worn haste = comparable dps to end game melee
Other than that, get your epics and a fast primary and you'll probably be better off. Rangers have always been gear dependent. Bowquesting is the epitome of that.

Archery is good enough to use in order to avoid point blank AoE mobs. Some mobs you can even out range fear.
Generally it is better to poke mobs toes though, I suppose.

Not all do, I believe Ice Burrowers, possibly amongst others, don't?

Rangers can out range AoE's, melee is still easier for better dps sadly. Luclin changes it all but we are forever broken with Velious.
