Everyone blows the hybrid xp penalty way out of proportion. I avoided all hybrids except bard, because of swarm, because people made such a huge deal over it. Well, I started a paladin to just see it for my self, and I have never loved a class more. On top of that, I was broke as shit shit whenever I started and I had no problem leveling with a suit of bronze armor. At 20 I switched to a Baton of Faith and it helps tremendously for 200p weapon. Also, people don't realize how good it is to be able to heal yourself. Makes soloing no problem.
