On EQMac you would see the "derp has been stunned" message but the mob is unphased and continues swinging at you.

There was a patch on live later on that changed it so if every individual component of a spell got resisted, the whole spell would send back a resist message instead of displaying it's landing text and etc. This was after Planes of Power at some point.
