I have been in private talks with Chest Rockwell and other BDA officers and while it is premature to announce it officially, we have come to terms on a rotation - However entrance into the rotation will require a Sontalak kill so A/A has been leaving him up pending our upcoming announcement.

Killing Sontalak will gain a guild entrance into the Kunark dragon rotation ONLY - no official word yet on what the requirements for the ToV rotation will be

Because he isn't classic.

Video evidence from 2001 shows a raid fighting him and the AE firing like clockwork every 12 seconds.

However somehow someone convinced the devs the AE should be a proc, rather than just a single target proc on the tank.

Due to this, in conjunction with non-classic AE Fear resist check on the Sontalak AE, the fight is nothing like classic. But I'm sure you know this.

Even before he was upgraded to super sontolak this fight ate a lot of wort pot charges, dots and reapers....now that the sleeper has been awoken and many people have sleeper's tomb keys, the value of one sleeper's tomb key isn't worth the cost of recharging all the items used to kill him...So basically his loot is worth less than the cost to kill him and he's harder than he was when Velious was released...

In that post I even list the timestamp where the Halfling makes the "I got hit" noise and he loses HP every 12-14 seconds due to that AE.

Also due to this nature of the AE the cleric is able to throw down a group CH after a fear lands, and completely heal his group.

He also throws on a DA to clear his aggro after the group CH lands. Currently DA doesn't drop you on aggro list like it should, it's only a temp drop that resets once DA ends which isn't classic.

------

AE procs being wrong and resist rates being wrong on this server vastly change many fights.

Nexona, Hoshkar, Zlexak, Klandicar, Zlandicar, Sontalak, Hraashna are all nothing like they were on live because of resist rates / non-classic -150 resist checks on their AEs which weren't present until post Luclin.

(posting in a troll thread)

That being said I'm with Daldaen. The First Brood are nowhere near classic on this server due to overpowered Dragon Fear. We have videos of both Zlandicar and Sontalak fights, and while the rate of Dragon Fear landing is about right, the duration is not. In those videos the players are feared for 0-1 ticks pretty much every time. Here it lasts for 4 ticks pretty consistently.

Then on top of that you have the fact that NPC targeted AE procs should only hit one target. Zlandicar for example should proc that Stun Breath on the tank, not the entire raid. Sontalak can proc a few times in a row and instantly nuke the entire raid for 2000 damage.

And since even 255 FR doesn't make you even close to immune (our resist system seems to penalize the players about -50 vs classic) and you can't wort while feared it can get ugly. There is a video floating around where Sontalak eats 100 Forsaken/Asgard in 10 seconds. It's pretty hilarious [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

But classically LOS posted about killing him with 35, which would be simply impossible on this server without 8 bags full of wort potions.

I'm guessing our devs implemented this as 'when going through the hate list, ignore target if invulnerable' while Verant implemented this as 'when you cast DA, set your hate to 1'. The second version is faster computationally because you not only avoid the check, but you don't have to iterate through invulnerable players at the top of the hate list.

However it has important differences: with the second version players can DA tank over pets with current code. IIRC pets should be able to tank over players in Classic. Of course, pet aggro is so high here that a mage epic pet would basically tank everything . . .

Daldaen and Raev spot on. Zlandicar was one of the easiest mobs with great loot to kill in Velious, here he's another zerg fest / PITA. Don't even get me started on what should be one groupable WW dragons that instead are machine gun AE proccing monsters.
