I have a soft spot NPC's that are undercon's or are beyond stupid for their level. This little charm pet comes to mind every-time... a level 30 "bard" that has more health than dragons.

I wouldn't say it's useless... It adds some life and personality to the game. I quite enjoy it! It also hints at an available quest.
