Blue SHOULD remain a backwater server. It has always been envisioned as the long-term beta for the final product, which will be Green in all of its many future reboots. Blue should thus become a sort of dumping ground for the characters and items acquired during one's playthrough of the classic EQ timeline on Green. A sort of retirement server. The actual purpose of Project 1999 is not to acquire as many pixels as possible in an artificially time-locked Velious server. It's to enable people to experience the gameplay of classic trilogy EQ on an ongoing basis. The fact that players can permanently keep their loot and characters for use on Blue is really just a bonus.
