God. That hurts my brain.
Now if I had a vertical monitor and could have a 1440x1080 viewport with a bunch of black space above or below, I'd be ok with that. But the viewport on the side just mindfucks me.
I actually like this idea a lot and might have to try it, although swapping back and forth between landscape and portrait is probably more of a pain than it's worth.
