The following items are still considered boxing and I promise WHEN you are caught - you WILL be banned [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

-porting one toon with your other one
-logging both toons on to get a port for both
-Having a second boxed toon on "Just for C/Stamina/Healing/Regen/damage shield"
-Logging in to rez yourself
-buffing yourself

Ok so exemptions are done by account and would need all accounts in question to have an exemption to be able to log one on and have my brother log another on.

And me and my brother have played eq for years and years, don't do that kind of stuff to each other so no worries.

I don't want to box just was going to do different duo partners in different level ranges with my brothers using a friends account so I can just level him instead of starting my own.

And while we are talking about it, how would this type of situation be looked at: I log on a druid account, brother logs on his account I port him, he logs off his account logs on my account I port him again, then log off druid and log on myself and we continue on. Is that ok as long as we are only ever on 1 char at a time?

Would that trigger a red flag that might get us in trouble? Is that looked down upon even if it isn't against rules?

I'm loving the game so far and want to make sure I don't do anything that will cause problems.

It's legal, but you'd want to take some care to make it look like you're not boxing.

Running around flailing your arms on both characters simultaneously would probably work. That's hard for a single person to do [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.].

Another suggestion, is not to go afk for long periods of time while the other person is in party with you and killing stuff. Even though you might legitimately be afk and the other person isn't even capable of manipulating your character. To a casual observer/GM it looks exactly like multi-boxing.

The best possible thing to do is to make sure both characters are doing something at the same time that would be difficult to do if you were having to alt-tab or switch to different keyboards.

So if one of the people afk's you may look suspicious anyways, is there any way to prove you aren't two boxing if they suspect it? Or are you always taking a risk playing with someone else in the house?

You're taking a risk. All the devs are able to see are 2 characters logged in from the same IP address. This means if one is doing all the moving around/pulling/killing while the other does nothing or only occasionally throws a buff/heal then from the outside it appears exactly like two boxing.

The price you pay for being able to play side by side with someone is that you have to have additional diligence to keep things from appearing like they're not on the up-and-up.

If I was playing with my kid and he went afk and Amelinda or Uthgaard showed up and started peering at me quizzically, I think I'd be yelling pretty loud for him to get back to his computer! [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

My husband, brother-in-law and I all are on different computers but live in the same household. So basically, if we get approved for IP exemption for three accounts and get to group, then we all will always have to keep moving around in fights to show we're not multiple-boxing? If my BIL plays a cleric, then he can't really sit still to heal us because there is no way to prove he is a separate person? I'm so excited to play with them again, but feeling a little overwhelmed with the risks to just be able to play and not get constantly suspected of breaking rules, with no way to truly prove innocence. Does anyone else play easily with more than one other person in the house?

Don't break the rules and you will be fine, I'd think. I haven't heard of anyone claiming they've been wrongly banned for multiboxing and the GMs understand a cleric spends 90+% of their time sitting. The people who call the GM's Nazi's and stuff are usually the people who did something wrong.

In the petition/exploit forum, it is stated that part of the required information includes "account names". Does this refer to the EQ-emu login account, or the forum account?

It also mentions "character names", but if one were to create more characters on their account, would that be necessary to include, since that information could constantly change?

My husband was banned from the forums for calling the mods/devs nazi's.
