Have her play an Enchantet if that's the class she finds attractive. Levelling in eq is so slow you don't want her playing a class she doesn't find interesting just to get her feet wet. Playing another class--especially a mellee--will not help her when she wants to switch to a chanter. At lower levels she can just buff anyway until she gets good at charming and crowd control.

Print out a copy of Xornns enchanting guide which is available on the wiki and have her read it. That guide is solid gold and if after reading it she thinks
Ench sounds fun she should do that. The guide will give her the advice to gain the skills to cc and charm effectively, especially how to line up her spells.

Back on live, my girlfriend wanted to play a wizard and I convinced her to play a monk instead. One morning I woke up and she was in tears because she was trying to pull something hard and her group was giving her a bunch of shit. She never played again. Huge mistake on my part.

I'd let her play the enchanter. Don't make a big deal out of it if either of you die. If you have to CR both of you, do it. Have fun with her when she wants to play--don't expect her to min/max like a vet. If she wants to put up a shitty pet and cast nukes and fear, so be it.

I personally agree with Shiftin. Tell her that Shaman are the priest equivalent of enchanters, but they are vastly more forgiving and team better with more classes.

I'm surprised no one is laughing at you yet for complaining that your GF wants to play an enchanter (awesome class) while you want to play a ranger (horrible class).

I disagree, I knew an amazing enchanter who used to play here who was female. It is true that cleric is one of the classes female players tend to flock to for some reason, at least in my experience. Not for the reason you listed though.
