Honestly, I've been 50 since late November. I also have a 50 paladin. I haven't been in a guild since February. I'm still having a blast. There's tons of things to do. This game is what you make of it, really.

I *might* see my first level 50 character by the time Velious comes out - if then. Right now, I have one 16 and one 17. I too am having an absolute blast.

So yeah, that's the beauty of this game - there's something for everyone and every style of play.

Don't sweat what might happen some day. Have fun today. If you are playing this game for "some day" then you are playing it for the wrong reason.
