Where was this outrage when they shut down SWG?
Honestly, that should have been a warning that they're not afraid to do this.

To provide some background of both the server and of the workings of the eqmac.com boards: We/I are/am completely independent of SOE and Everquest. I have no personal contact with anyone at SOE, and I actually haven't played EQ of any form since 2007. I provide the forums as a service to the EQMac community, out of a respect for the people who play, and to support a game I once spent a great deal of my life playing. I was not the originator of the eqmac.com forums, but took them over in 2006 and have run them ever since. The forums were created to provide a place for the EQMac community to interact. Since we were actually unable to use the SOE forums for several years after our game was released, eqmac.com became the default "official" communication channel. As such, we had an unspoken agreement with SOE. We would do our utmost to maintain the same standards as they would in their own fora. In return, we would be allowed to use the "Everquest" name, trademark logos etc. and, more importantly, we would have an occasional official communication from various guides, GMs and developers. For nearly ten years we have had this arrangement, and it has served the community well. Yes, I know the server is being closed down...Yes, I know I could do whatever I pleased in terms of posting links, software and the like there, with the worst case being a slap in the hand from SOE. I will not do that. Out of respect for both the EQMac community and yes, even SOE, I will continue to maintain the same standards we have had for many years. This includes removal and possible banning of people who violate eqmac.com's rules. I am glad that you in the Project 1999 community will welcome us Mac players, should we decide to join you. As a former software engineer, I also respect the scale of the project you are undertaking. However, I ask that you respect the rules and nature of the eqmac.com forums. Feel free to join us and offer condolences or even taunt us, if you desire. But please, keep mention of your project off of our semi-official forums. Nikolai, eqmac.com owner and moderator

Why you hold loyalty to people who are literally screwing you in the ass after 10 years of service is beyond me.

You shouldn't be worshipping them for giving you the short end of the stick for 10 years.

I hold no "loyalty" to SOE at all, and am sad as well as a bit pissed off at the handling of our "situation". However, I do consider myself an honorable person. I made a promise, which I intend to keep. As far as I know, SOE has not revoked our right to use their copyrighted material, and our developer continues to communicate with us there. In kind, I will maintain the same community we have had for as long as I can.

This makes me sad, I never bought a mac/played on EQmac but I liked to always know it was there in case I got sick of the shit on P99.
Make sure to burn it to the ground before you go out.

Why on world would they shut the server down after Hobart has spent the better part of a year working on an intel client? Doesn't make sense to me.
