i would like to point out that there have been references to said DLL that would suggest that it grants the capabilities to view users screen, act as keylogger, and monitor other system processes. considering the history of GM corruption (albeit rumorcraft), i would expect at least a little more transparency from the devs about what this file is capable of doing.

since this transparency would therefore allow scum to circumvent the defenses which the DLL was created for, i think that a little bit of courtesy should be granted this person who is worried about their system. OP makes a great point when they state that most of the comments in this thread are rude, and honestly most of you fucking retards need to formulate a unique idea.. half of the comments are just repetitions of what you thought was funny earlier in thread.

a note to OP: realize that this server is not maintained with the intention of serving you. this is a private server that allows players like you and me to connect. the devs could just whitelist their friends' IPs and never have to deal with this kind of crap anymore, so please tread gently with what we all are able to enjoy.

I do admit I would like a little disclaimer about the file, just saying its not harmful and AVs will flag it, and telling us what it does. BUT at the same time I trust Rogean. He is a gamer like most of us and loves EQ. He wants us all to have a cheater free fun time. So I do not believe he would let a file in a patch that he does not trust him self. I understand some are skeptical about it, but why? Because a few have said it does this, and does that. But think about this are they dev? Do they truly know what this file does. I can sit here all day and say I have decrypted the file and know exactly what it does. The reality is though, they don't know shit. They are just trying to scare the community as a whole. Hell they are probably trying to get the file removed for there own evil purpose. So calm your tits put the file on the exception list, like most have already done, and play the game you love. If you can't get past that, sorry to say it, but good bye. You will be missed by some, but the rest of use that have brains, will keep playing, stupid AVs or not. We love our EverCrack.

you know i was doing the same thing, and just ignoring it. but my antivirus is now pickup the generic11 file in other areas such as the systems folders. i wonder whats the cause for it spreading?
That doesn't suggest it's spreading. That just suggests you have multiple files on your system that your AV doesn't like.

I have no reason to distrust the devs, but I don't have any reason to trust them either, especially when they act like this.
You're coming into their house to use their resources. I'd say that's a reason to trust them... if you, y'know, want to. They actually been fairly upfront about this. I took the time to read about dsetup.dll before I even joined.

It's not a new thing, so it's not that they can't use their hacks anymore. It's been there for 3 years. It's only that their AV program is wrongly flagging it as peculiar.
