Should be able to, but ALT is basically a function key in EQ and if you remap it simply as Q then you need to adjust other keys that use ALT in options->keys->all

Rule of thumb:
If you are worried enough that you need to ask, it's probably a bad idea.

You can change around keys all you want under keys in Options ingame(alt-o).

remapping keys doesn't seem like a big deal to me. Not everybody uses the qwerty keyboard. Some people like the dvorak layout or one of the other types of layouts
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keyboard_layout It's just a different spot that the button gets pushed. It's not like you're using third party tools or botting.

I like to put all the button commands onto one of those gamepads. I had a nostromo n52 for years but it finally broke down and I had to get one of those new razer's.
They still sell the nostromos but it's like $300 from crazy ebay resellers. Fuck that. I'll deal with the shitty razer synapse software and save a couple hundred bucks.
