Default Just found this place and....

Got some questions. First about me:

Played original EQ and the first few expansions. Wasn't very good in the raiding scene mostly because I couldn't commit the time. Loved the game, put time in when I could, loved situations like in the frenzy room on an enchanter and CC'ing, especially when the puller came back with 5+ too many Frogs. Loved grouping, though my original character (a druid) wasn't a desired class, I rolled an enchanter and then found it much easier to get some group action.

Now about the rest.

I've been playing UO on a free shard. The experience has been fun but the community has just become garbage. I found this place last night via a google search and started reading the forums, and there seems to be a lot of talk about how great things were here 3+ years ago, or about people being banned for trivial reasons. I'm already nervous about investing a lot of time in a character only to get banned because I accidentally trained a group in Unrest (which I'm capable of doing, I can be pretty terrible at times).

I then read the rules here and it seems like things are pretty strict, a bit overboard in some places but I also appreciate what they've attempted to capture here. My question is this: Would a gamer with my background who likely won't get into a raiding scene get much out of playing here? I'm dying to recapture the early experience again of being a noob in Qeynos, advancing to Blackburrow, kiting scarecrows and ultimately running from Hill Giants.

I likely just made this post a TLDR type of thing, but I'd love some unbiased opinions and feel free to tell me if I don't appear to be cut out to make it here. I perhaps should have just avoided reading the negativity on the forums but I'm trying to find out if its just a small amount of unhappy players or if this place really should be passed over (though this seems to be the best offering for the 'classic' experience out there).
