Today I woke up at 6:30 AM, did legs and core, and then SMASHED a Jack N the Box Grande Sausage Burrito, Sausage Croissant, and a big ol glass of organic whole milk.

We're talking 1650 calories and 65g protein at the start of the day, retards. Being small is being stupid.

I too am 6'3", and weighing in at 185 right now so I'm still quite slender. My goal is 200 by April :-)

I will have to eat a lot of delicious food to make that happen.

I noticed a thin layer of fat around my adbomen for the first time in my life and this freaked me out, so over the weekend I ate less and swam a mile. But now I am just straight up committing to the GAINZ life.

Eating, is a fundamental part of packing on muscle. You're in the right range for protein, over doing protein aka 100g+ a day is a total waste.

One warning i'll share is to only pack on as much muscle as you want to maintain. If you weight lift for a year or two then stop it sort of turns to fat.

OH and you said you're on the lean side already. You won't pack on gains at the same rate as someone who's already got a little heft to them.

And the final thing I'll part with in this post is be aware of plateauing. Confuse the shit out of your muscles and they will swell.

ps. do pushups, sit ups and pull ups every day. These don't necessarily require rest days.
I also do a ton of cardio in the summer. cycling and walking.

@Baler thx for notes. I've noticed my trainer keeps switching up exercises so I'm learning some different types for each day of my split :) I'm not sure at what rate my body gains weight now that I'm a healthy boii. My trainer suggested 1.5-2g protein per lb of muscle but all the scholarly articles i read suggest it's more like 1g protein per muscle and then the real kicker is your caloric intake.

I finally just broke down and joined Crossfit. To be fair its a pretty good price in my area with small classes in the evening (more couch attention).

Plateaus suck -- and unless you have a real good idea what your doing -- your going to plateau and waste time.

So that's why I'm working out with hot housewives and weekend warriors at my local Crossfit.

But personal trainer can be just as good -- probably better for higher $$$ ones. Especially if you're a loner that hates friendly competition.

Edit: if you are working out with high intensity it can be problematic to eat too much processed food -- I've heard those are the people that puke. Also they have harder times losing water weight, but I guess ecto's don't worry about that as much.

Man that is one high protein low fat meat. I think I'm going to look into getting some Goat. I've only had it once before though, and it kind of tasted like nothing.

Fat isn't bad -- but its best to balance fats so that your eating a lot more poly/mono fats rather than saturated fat all the time. But if I was ecto I might just eat Beef and Lamb more.

Something I heard is to eat up to your weight in kilos as grams of protein. Seems ballparky for non-humongous dudes.

@Jurisdictum: Crossfit might have a disproporionate effect; immersing in fit mommies in yoga pants bound to skyrocket your testosterone? :D

Speaking of testosterone, make sure you take in plenty of iodine and cholesterol (not too much, especially from processed sources) as these are important for synthesizing hormones.

Make sure to stay well rested as well as well exercised (oxymoron I know).

I started my spring bulk a week ago. Going pretty well so far. 3 more weeks of "phase 1" and 11 total more weeks to go :P Hoping to gain at least 5 pounds of muscle mass, hopefully more.

I eat 100 grams of protein a day and put on 30 lbs of muscle in the last 8 months. Went from 5'10" 160 lbs to 5'10" 188. My body fat % dropped down to 16% as well

I'm no dietitian filbus but cut out that fucking fast food unless you want to be hospitalized frequently in your 50s. More eggs, lean meat, and small quantities of healthy carbs

PS: not sure why I mentioned 5'10" twice, GOD BLESS!!!

Thanks for your concern. I spent the past 8 years eating a highly restricted diet of meat, vegetables, and fruit all home cooked by moi and extremely healthy food... so, don't worry I'm just having a little fun now that I can eat more freely! At home I eat very healthily anyway. Lots of eggs and dairies and lean meats and sure okay i eat bread and butter

Anyway, I guess I just want to say I'm very health-conscious and don't worry about me bud!!!!!! I'm Just Having a Little FuN!!!!! :)

Where is Mead he usually has good input on weight training.

I used to do push-ups then later in life changed to dips. I find dips more rewarding and highly recommend anyone working to strengthen their upper bodies to do this exercise.

So my recent.. attempt #3 at transition is going as well as could be expected. Made it ~3 months before everything went to hell this time. On the bright side, I'm steadily but slowly losing mass. XL shirts are noticeably hanging off my 5'11" frame. Right before all this in Sept I hit my highest weight, 217. Was pretty gross. I'm down to ~203 now. Goal to get 165 eventually which will be skinnier than I was at 17. Still don't have a good plan for that, but that's true of everything else I'm doing atm.

When you say went to hell, is it because of the transitioning process itself or was it just a matter of not following healthy life choices and exercising properly?

That's great, 14 pounds lost is impressive you are past the point of just losing water weight and at a point where you probably feel better and look better too.

Hope you keep at it, and don't lose focus or get complacent with what is working for you. By spring/summer you could potentially be at your target weight if you stick with it.

It's amazing how different we can feel we look when we compare that feeling to an actual photo. That has served as my biggest motivator to make change personally.

That always has bothered me though, it makes me feel like a shallow fuck because what matters most is what's on the inside, right? :D

Naw. Your externals are a reflection of the inside in a big way. I saw a sad, angry, sullen fuck in that picture and that was 100% accurate. 3 months in and I'm already WAY happier with who I see in the mirror. I'm motivated this time and I think it's going to work out... somehow. Goal is to be full time by 35. Gives me ~15 months. Fingers crossed I end up sorta pretty in a couple years.

That's great Cecily! Another reason to really focus now is it won't get easier as you get older. I know it's redundant saying this, but now is really the time to stay the course.

I am not shitting you, I always heard people talk about age this age that, and prior to 40 I really believed it was bullshit, that age was just a number... But when I hit 40 considerable changes occurred physically speaking haha.

Once I hit 40, recovering from injuries was noticeably harder, MORE injuries occured when I carelessly exercised, and losing extra weight became way harder as my metabolism REALLY slowed.

These are good reasons to stay focused and make it happen now and not procrastinate, besides the fact you will feel better AND look better sooner than later!

doable. strongly advise bigleague investment of effort into relocation. You may refer to my diet plan, described in the nonbinary posters group. I also have been systematically optimizing my skincare regimen but too nascent to share quite yet; estimate 3 months

skincare = use products you can safely eat, especially around ur face

my go-to's as a dryskin fag are
-almond/coconut oil. coconut works better but leaves that oxidized coconut smell for a while, not super pleasant. almond oil makes gr8 lube if you're on that #norubber gang shit. neither one's a bad choice for hair oil either, bonus.
-whatever unscented lotion has the least ingredients. same one for face and body. you shouldn't need a different one if you use unscented, low ingredient. cerave unscented's the best ur gonna find at ur average non hippy drugstore prolly.
-whatever balmy lip moisturizer has the least ingredients. must be non waxy.
- vaseline (lips/psoriasis areas)

keep it simple and keep air off stuff that's gonna dry out (what vaseline's 4)

For obvious reasons a good way to cut down on body fat is packing on muscle. Besides the fact that it requires you to put in work to pack on that much muscle, muscle burns more calories than fat, even at rest.

Where is Mead he usually has good input on weight training.

I've been working a bunch of days. Going on a snowboarding trip at the end of this week so I'll be spotty. I'll try my best to keep up and contribute.

This is a serious powerlifting guide to incorporate deadlifts. Low rep heavy weight.

I never did this type of routine and even now prefer calisthenics over weights more than ever.

I do have weights at home but only barbell/Dumbbells for curls and shoulder exercises which I have been slacking on all winter and not doing. :D

What exercises do you do for core strength, anything without weights?

One of the simplest things you can do for core that doesn't take a lot of time is the p99 ab ripper x video. 16 minutes of your time minus pre stretch. You can find it free or just download it and play it from pc or laptop.

It’s just much more convenient to eat like a dickhead. One of my good friends has genius level IQ and has the worst diet I’ve ever seen. He will be lucky to see 40s.

Isn't the idea behind a diabetic diet to make your body utilize insulin more efficiently? How is that a bad thing even for non-diabetics?

I'm not going to sit here and sell you on the benefits of probiotics. I'm going to tell you the same thing that I told my barber a week ago. Do your own research. Which surprised him due to my profession. I told him every asshole thinks they know what they're talking about. Go find the science behind it and understand it for yourself.

You don't have to drink kombucha. You can simply pop a probiotic pill which is more than sufficient. I simply enjoy drinking one a day. There are some flavors and brands I simply don't care for.

Yes, probiotics. When I do research I go to medical journals. Gastrointestinal and infectious disease medical journals for this specific topic would be best.

As far as the diabetic diet, if he means low carb diet, I have and will always get behind a lower carb diet. I just got lazy and didn't edit that part out.

I remember when guys at work were trying to lose weight by cutting all carbs, I think it was the Atkins Diet. Many of them lost weight quickly.

Within a year they put it all back and and looked sloppier and softer than ever. :(

I dropped 50lbs in the last two years, was starting to get into a steady routing of 5/3/1.

Winter came, (MN) so I stopped running, I then started an overnight project for 3 months working 2am-10am...killed my routine and now I'm trying to get back on track. Except now I'm working on selling a house, already bought a new McMansion. Life is getting in the way of gains.

Summer rolls around and I'll start killing the 5k times again and start in on some steady lifting.

I drank a half gallon of whole milk yesterday.

I very much love the lifestyle and it's a lot easier now that I don't have a chronic disease. It's great to have a hobby which keeps me away from people who drink a lot (siblings kek).

As per Kombucha, it's basically probiotics and tea. Probiotics are really good for gut health, which in turn improves OVERALL health by a significant margin. There's a spare amt of alcohol which feels nice if you aren't a regular drinker. Plus, black tea has some good health effects.

You can basically eat utter garbage all day like once every two weeks i think it is? And then your body doesn't even react to it. I don't do cheat days that often yet because I'm still trying to lose the last 20-30 more stubborn water/fat pounds on me....and I don't want to risk overdoing it. Cheat days help you enjoy life though.

Basically its all a time game. It's all about getting where you want as long as you want. Indulging helps the long run game.

Keep in mind for cheat days though: Getting drunk is pretty bad for you. Not like 1-3 beer buzz thing, I mean DRUNK. It messes up your hormone balance and if your not in your early 20s your going have a fucked up next day. I don't know all the details on this -- but I think genetics is part of it too. Alcoholics sometimes have genetics that metabolize the alcohol much better than others. These are the guys that drink all night and never pass out and are still thin.

There are also a small number of people immune to nicotine addiction apparently.

So there are some weird things out there.

Now, after drinking 3 or more pints I will be violently sick about 12 hours after I finish drinking. Pretty worrying really. Gives great incentive to not spend too much on nights out, though!

I did all my heavy drinking and drug use late teens and early 20s, and thank god for it. These days hangovers off 4+ drinks ruin the entirety of my next day. The buzz is not worth the come down.

It's easier for people who incorporate drinking into the daily lifestyle, though. Their bodies adapt to the poizon.

True...but speaking from experience, your body will need to go through an adjustment period.

Stuff like getting the munchies really bad and falling asleep a lot are pretty common for new smokers. Not to mention they are just flying high and silly compared to their more chill stoner friends.

It's debatable if Pot mildly decreases testosterone, mildly increases it, or does nothing. I think that shit might all be person to person / situational shit myself..

If you express your anger outwardly...more testosterone less cortisol. Just one example of how pot may change your testosterone indirectly. Maybe you have more of a "fuck it" attitude and yell at people that piss you off directly...or maybe you get more victim like and sulk off. It depends on a shitload of factors...


Note: obviously if you take steroids your not going to have testosterone problems from pot..

Keep in mind for this whole enhanced recovery thing: Pot can be a bit of an emotional see-saw. So yea you are really chill at night and recovering well....but then you might wake up crabby irritable and have more tense mornings regularly. A lot of times they don't recommend pot for anxiety because of this...sure you'll chill out...until you come down and have a panic attack about something you forgot.

One thing is for sure though. Plenty of huge guys smoke a lot of pot. And they didn't get that huge from sitting on their ass eating junk.

gonna get back into exercising once my ankle heals and see about losing 3 - 10lbs. id like to go for 10-13, but if I get much below my current weight i lose too much from my face. 3 can be done though and would be good. im back to intermittent fasting now too ^^ which is why I am still awake ^^;;

plan to do some biking, calisthenics/pilates and reads because I think they are near and they feel fantastic even though I don't move much weight ^^; need to tighten my upper back too. i have a minor kyphosis creeping in again from sitting at desk ;n; gotta fix the ankle though first.

There are different types of alcoholics.

A binge drinker can go months without drinking a drop, but then go on a hardcore session of 20 shots in one night drinking to the point they reach near alcohol poisoning flying off the rails like a mad person. Binge drinking is extremely dangerous and this type of drinker can't stop once they down one drink.

Habitual alcoholics can and will drink continuously on a daily basis, obviously this is not healthy behavior either but the pattern of how these two types of alcoholics drink is very different from one another.

I tend to binge drink and so as I have gotten older learned the hard way that it's best I just not have any drink at all. All it takes is the thought or feeling of wanting to get drunk and once I drink one beer or shot that day is done.

The worst is the recovery after a drinking session due to the sheer amount of alcohol I will drink.

These binges can create other problems, typically I won't even remember much of the later points of the binge and I have done really crazy things that I ended up regretting.

Alcohol is a dirty nasty drug, and it's hilarious it's embraced yet weed is vilified as well as other drugs that are far less damaging.

On a side note, the worst withdrawals I have ever seen in the jail were from alcohol. I seen many heroin addicts go through withdrawals, and as bad as they are the withdrawal process of alcohol beats it hands down. It's a longer process, and much scarier when trying to manage them due to the alcoholic having severe hallucinations and becoming very aggressive.

The behavior of a years long alcoholic withdrawing from alcohol is identical to a schizophrenic having an extremely manic episode of hallucinations. They hear and see things not there, and they become very combative you can't even communicate with them properly.

At first when they start up, the first thing we do is refer them to mental health and place them in a single cell. Then the mental health director will have to watch and evaluate them over time to determine if they are a "mental" or going through alcohol withdrawals.

After a week or so, they come back to earth if it's alcohol withdrawals whereas if they are suffering from mental health issues obviously the behavior will probably go on for much longer until prescribed meds help.

I walked into the Starbucks I frequently visit and the lady I know asked me where was I two days ago? They could have used me. I laughed and said why? She said a guy with delirium tremens signed himself out of the hospital AMA, had a seizure, and cracked his head open on the floor. I giggled and told her I'm sorry I missed that.

Legitimate alcohol withdrawal / DTs , which I have experienced when I was younger after a Vegas bender, is very serious. We didn't stop drinking for 4 days straight. This is before I had any medical knowledge. When I came home I couldn't sleep for 48-72 hours, tremors, and hallucinations. So I called my buddy up who was in his residency at the time I'm like dude what the fuck is going on with me? He's like you're going through some serious alcohol withdrawal. So I googled alcohol withdrawal treatment and naturally Valium popped up. But I didn't have access to Valium. I knew my grandmother had some Xanax though. Popped that mother fucker and never slept so good in my life. I couldn't imagine going another day in that state.

It took a while before I gave up alcohol for good. And I'm pretty open about my alcoholism. I, like Lhance, don't control my drinking very well once I start. It feels so good when it hits the lips. Unlike a lot of people, I'm able to be around it no problem. I have beer in the fridge and a full bar for company. But I've always had pretty good will power. It only goes to shit when I start drinking.

Quitting boozing was one of the best thing I ever did. I feel fucking fantastic every day I wake up. Most importantly for me I like being reliable at a moments notice. You can't do that fucked up. And Jesus Christ do I not miss having a hangover.

To keep this thread on track, I had an awesome workout this morning. It will most likely be the last one this week before my snowboarding trip. I might do some cardio tomorrow or Friday morning, we'll see how tired I am after work tonight or Thursday. When I get back I plan on really bulking up some. Excited for that.

I drink coffee 3 times a week or less.

If I drink it daily, I get physically addicted where if I miss a day of coffee I get splitting headaches. So I just try to drink it intermittently now, not every day.

I do miss how it makes me poop regularly though.

Well Coffee has been studied extensively and the negative effects always come from extremely high use. Meanwhile there are some benefits. Most of these studies, however, were produced by people hopped up on Caffeine as they reported them. You find a Doctor that's not a Caffeine-head and they will tell you its not all good.

I've heard it can cause redness in the face...that's the only good reason I've heard to quit. No one dies from a cup of coffee a day...most could probably get away with 2 (assuming they don't have some kind of medical issue exacerbated by Caffeine.

I mean the shit makes you work better when you drink it...how many things do that? Maybe Cocaine in the short term -- but we all know where that leads.

But yea -- an your addict to coffee if you drink it everyday -- join the club. You'll get withdraws like any drug addict if you suddenly stop.

I knew a guy who added caffeine to his workout shakes. He claimed it helped him go the extra length. I never took in caffeine beyond my morning coffee and I could keep up with him. I guess it depends on your body and mind. A small amount won't kill you but is it required, no way.

I did legs and core YESTERDAY. A little lighter than normal so not HUGE gains because I wanted to swim a mile, too.

I cucked myself by losing my good goggles and gave up like a soft-willed LOSER.

But I made up for that by eating a serious amount of icecream and turkey for the gains.

Various concoctions of tonic water and unsweetened grapefruit juice with Gin is probably my favorite way to get blasted. Most the time I'm fine with a 1-2 beer buzz though.

Sadly I went the to bed without the discipline of cramming some chicken noodles into me too. I did manage the almond slices, soup and sarnie for supper though!

do you guys eat GAINS levels meals on your rest days? I'm pulling a super long work day today and tomorrow probably. I still have some slight soreness from workout on Saturday but I'm not sure if it's worth trying tO GAIN right now.

Disclaimer: it's been like a decade and a half since i studied physiology and I know sport science has moved on a long way since then.

Feed the daemon, you don't want your body to think it is about to be starved, because then it will go into storing energy instead of building.

Plus, your rest day is when muscles have the chance to repair themselves, so you gotta make sure they have all the ingredients they need!

I mentioned today I'm not trying for teh GAINZ because I'm working a super long time. This means I don't really have time to prep the massive caloric surplus I need. Also, when I eat GAINS sided portions, my mental acuity takes a plunge because so much blood goes to the gut for digestion.

it is truly a challenge to eat 3-3.5k calories in a day. It can become uncomfortable. You must eat and force more nutrients into your hole.

for breakfast i had 2 english muffins, 2 eggs, and a turkey sausage with some melk. For lunch I ate spaghetti with meatsauce and another melk. I'm probably around 1500 calories which is quite a comfortable amt. Probably won't put on BULK MASS GAINS today but my brain is working well and I don't have extended downtime due to food slumber.

yeppers ^^ heavy cream is more fatty. i either bought it at Safeway, Walmart or fred Meyer, or maybe grocery outlet. those the main places I buy foods. i will try an check this weekend. my memory is terribad ^^;

Incline also frustrates me cuz i'm so much weaker at it. 90 lb on each side of your dumbell press is jacked man. thats' SwWoLe.

Cables are great because you can really squeeze the inner tit meat circa ur sternum and get the nicenice. Chest day is easily my favorite. :-)

Finally got to gym again yesterday. The real victory was getting my older brother to sign up. We did back and biceps. I had to cut it a bit short because my bro doesn't have a lot of stamina yet, but I'm still sore today so it's a win. After lifting we went to a German restaurant and I drank two excellent beers, a schnitzel, some cheesy noodle appetizer and fries and when I went home I ate a large bowl of ice cream.

wow, that's a lottagrain. i dunno about physical therapy, i don't want to pay for another doctor visit and it seems to be getting better all On its own. Still swells some of i don't keep it elevated for part of the day, butt i can walk on it without a brace and it's only a little tender now ^^

I didn't. But i was real careful and got into yoga which is great for strengthening that sort of thing. The way I did it cheaply was by going to the yoga classes at my regular gym. You don't get the best teachers or the meditative ambience, but all you need is a good yoga routine that helps strengthen ur balance.

Books are hard to get into and videos are okay but super repetitive.

today was swim day. I was pretty tired from work and I accidentally drank a few glasses of scotch last night so I wasn't feeling great today. I went to the gym to swim it out anyway. i did 700 yards of freestyle which is good for me. My new goggles and swim cap were really nice and comfortable. After a couple hundred yards of breast stroke my body just felt tired, so i headed into the sauna and cleaned up and now i'm back at work.

Basically dips and triceps extensions

I'm doing dumbbell presses on chest day + incline press + chest press machine so I get lots of other triceps, plus on shoulder day I do dumbbell shoulders and the shoulder press machine as well

I like compound movements but biceps I do some isos bdcause over the past year I've gotten way stronger in most areas but my biceps not really. Wide grip pull ups help for those. I swear by dips for triceps though. I had to start using the assist and now I put a 45 on the belt thing (obviously no assist). Problem is, if you lean forward you're engaging much more of your chest and not as much triceps. I bet mead could elaborate more because I'm not an expert, just slowly getting jAcKeD w/ GAINZ

biceps don't give huge arms, triceps do. 2/3 of your arm mass is triceps. if you want more bigger arms, focus on more effective triceps recruitment for moar gainz by doing overhead movements.

biceps don't give huge arms, triceps do. 2/3 of your arm mass is triceps. if you want more bigger arms, focus on more effective triceps recruitment for moar gainz by doing overhead movements.
