The John Stossel who created a lawsuit getting his “marketplace of ideas” panties all in a bunch because Facebook placed a fact check on a nonsense video he did about climate change, and Stossel was suddenly no longer so interested in the marketplace of ideas.

He had to bring in the state to punish those who dared to say things he didn’t like.

The video in question was about forest fires in California, and spoke to someone who argued that climate change is “not the primary cause” of the rash of forest fires in California in 2020.

There was then another video that also got a fact check, this one with clips of a debate he moderated about climate change. In the video Stossel talks about “environmental alarmists” and plays down their concerns. Again, this video got a similar fact check regarding some misleading claims.

Stossel took all of this personally, and insisted that this fact check defamed him (he claims that he wasn’t suing about the “missing context” label, just the underlying fact check). But, John, that’s not how the marketplace of ideas works. And the court has now made that clear.

First, the court notes that for the “fire” video, while Stossel claims that the video defamed him, the fact check was about the entire video not just the claims made by Stossel, and the fact check by the court was found to be accurate regarding other claims made by people in the video.

Yeah John Stossel's is an embarrassment from his other videos like Woke Medicine and more.

Some of the victims have a family members that pushed the child into a trafficked situation for either drugs or in some cases shelter and food.

Sound of Freedom almost exclusively focuses on very young children, the majority of child trafficking victims are adolescents or teenagers.

In fact, a report from the Counter-Trafficking Data Collaborative states that 67 percent of children trafficked are between the ages of 15 and 17.

Generally, young people end up in trafficking situations because their family is in incredible poverty, because of political unrest, because the child is being rejected by their family for their sexual orientation or gender identity or any number of things.

Lack of focus on tragic cases like these, in favor of more dramatic narratives about international rescue missions and shadowy strangers abducting kids, has resulted in a skewed perception of child trafficking.

I was talking to a group of parents at work during a CISD and the topic came up about why parents aren’t comfortable letting their kids play outside nowadays versus when we were kids

The consensus amongst the parents was they were too worried about abductions. I asked if these are occurring more frequently or is it just with our ability to get national news more readily than when we were kids is skewing our perception that it is happening more often

In reality, some are throwaway kids. They are kicked out of their homes and trade sex for food and a place to stay, and end up being trafficked by a pimp. In a lot of these cases, the trafficker starts out calling themselves their boyfriend or girlfriend.

Some of the victims have a family members that pushed the child into a trafficked situation for either drugs or in some cases shelter and food.

Sound of Freedom almost exclusively focuses on very young children, the majority of child trafficking victims are adolescents or teenagers.

In fact, a report from the Counter-Trafficking Data Collaborative states that 67 percent of children trafficked are between the ages of 15 and 17.

Generally, young people end up in trafficking situations because their family is in incredible poverty, because of political unrest, because the child is being rejected by their family for their sexual orientation or gender identity or any number of things.

Lack of focus on tragic cases like these, in favor of more dramatic narratives about international rescue missions and shadowy strangers abducting kids, has resulted in a skewed perception of child trafficking.

"Sound of Freedom" I will admit I hadn't been following the debate on this one and most of the info about the movie I have received from this thread lol. I will say that I mentioned earlier that someone I thought was doing good work and had donated money to has recently been caught with a bunch of child porn, which sucks but I'm not going to defend him. He can rot in hell. And so can anyone else that preys on children.

As for Jason Aldean, that was some pretty genius marketing tbh. He knew his video would be controversial, that democrats would get enraged and republicans would respond by rallying in support. And since conservatives make up the vast majority of country music fans, the guy is going to sell out every venue he plays and will be set for life. Pretty clever on his part.
